FAQ
What is Dam Proud Day?
Dam Proud Day is an online day of giving and connecting. Beavers everywhere are coming together to support what we’re most proud of at Oregon State University. As part of this day, all alumni, students, faculty, staff, fans and friends of the university are encouraged to support and celebrate the OSU programs and projects they believe in.
When is Dam Proud Day?
OSU’s annual Day of Giving is Wednesday, April 24, and all gifts that come in before midnight will count.
How do I give?
Go to DamProudDay.org to easily support all colleges and sports, and many life-changing programs and initiatives as well.
Why should I give today rather than some other day?
Today only, fellow donors have put forward matching and challenge gifts to help increase the impact of gifts. So no matter the size of your gift, you will make an even greater difference.
What is a matching gift?
Matching gifts are funded by donors and create opportunities to leverage your support for the college or program that you believe in. These may include goals for a certain number of people to donate within a certain period of time or to donate a certain amount, which will unlock additional funding for the school or program.
Besides giving, how can I get involved?
Become an official Dam Proud Day Ambassador or simply email your family, friends and fellow alumni and promote it on social media. On your social media messages, be sure to use our hashtags (#BeavsGive #DamProudDay #DamProud) and include a link to DamProudDay.org or a specific project or initiative that you would like to support. We want to hear your story!
Tuition is high! Why does the university need more money?
Tuition is a serious financial commitment, which is why a portion of today is focused on inspiring donors to support scholarships and student aid. Donors help reduce the burden of rising education costs on students and their families, and also support opportunities that enrich students’ educational experiences. In fact, about 80% of Dam Proud Day giving opportunities directly impact students, many of whom are still struggling due to the pandemic.
Why did you use the word "Dam"?
The beaver dam pun is used broadly to represent the larger Oregon State community, especially among students and young alumni (such as in Dam Jam, DAMlab, etc.). With this in mind, the name Dam Proud Day draws upon the pride that our community feels for Oregon State University students, programs and more.

How does the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2018 impact the tax deductibility of my gift?
Enacted in January of 2018, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act eliminated deductibility of ticket seat contributions and gifts that receive points used for ticket placement for home athletic contests (i.e. Beaver Points). All gifts to Oregon State Athletics default to receiving Beaver Points. If you have other OSU Athletics questions, click here!
